Foyer Fun

While this might first appear to be some country’s flag, it is actually a vehicle for activism and happiness…

Scientists who study happiness say that one of the key components of contentment is “community feeling.” I can personally attest to this fact. Doing positive things that help others brings me joy and I try to incorporate these things into the Raven whenever possible.

For some time now, I’ve been using one side of our bulletin board to sell buttons to support the local high school’s robotics team, the Mecanum Knights. They had a plethora of them sitting around due to Covid. The fundraiser has been very successful – thank you to all those who have donated, I know the team appreciates your support.

We’ve had a very busy year and my staff swoons in distress if/when I ask them to do/sell/stock one more thing, so this foyer fundraiser area works well for us as it is passive in nature. Folks pass by and if they see something they want to support they grab what’s there and drop their money in the box. Easy peasy.

So here’s my pitch to you… in the future, we’ll be hosting charitable fundraisers in these 3 spaces for approximately 3 months at a time. If you’d like to be considered for a space –  here’s what you need to know:

1. We get the most excited when supporting organizations that support arts and culture, but we are open to all applicants.
2. You’ll need to supply us with the following items:
A. An 8.5×11” flyer explaining your fundraiser
B. Small things to sell: buttons, ornaments, stickers, etc.
3. Monies collected have to benefit a charitable organization.
4. This fundraising opportunity is based on the honor system. The Raven cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.
