One of my favorite things about this place (and I assure you, there is a rather long list of favorite things that I have about this place) is that creativity is encouraged here.
If you have visited recently, you may have noticed folded bits of paper strewn about upstairs.
In any other place, this may be used napkins or straw wrappers left behind.
Here, it is art.
On the featured shelf in the teen section upstairs, there are a few books on origami, along with a plethora of beautifully colored pieces of paper. Patrons are encouraged to try their artistic hands at the ancient art of folding paper.
You can take your masterpiece home with you, or feel free to leave it behind on display.
If you need more instruction than a book can provide, we do have a few videos on our facebook page that you can follow along with to craft your own work of art.
Also, if you would like to know a bit more about origami here’s a good place to start. It’s a great little blurb from PBS:

Hope to see your fantastic paper creations soon!
