Brian T. McCosky (Live Music)Brian T. McCosky began his musical journey over 15 years ago in Petoskey’s open mic scene. In that time his guitar and songwriting has taken him from Michigan to the Rockies and back. As the guitarist in the Colorado based The Longest Day of the Year, he has shared the stage with Grammy award-winning artists such as The Blind Boys of Alabama and Sturgill Simpson. Best known for his work with Northern Michigan staples such as Pocketwood Mandingo and The Mudbugz, Brian recently returned with a new artistic vision. Combining acoustic and electric guitars, songwriting, and today’s latest music technology, Brian bridges the gap between producer and performer. From live looping to electronic beats, heartfelt lyrics to finger-picked instrumental arrangements, his music finds something for everyone. Every time.

Mike Ward (Live Music)Lyric-driven, simple folk songs are what singer-songwriter Mike Ward produces. Currently living in Detroit, Mike grew up listening to the Irish music of the Clancy Brothers and singing in church choirs. His influences are the likes of Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and John Prine. Having spent years singing along with all those influences it is no surprise (though humbling) when people tell him they can hear bits of Springsteen, and these days Jason Isbell, in his performances The songs that Mike writes are a combination of stories and life lessons which are still being learned. His second album was released in 2018, “We Wonder” which is a collaboration with several extremely talented musicians and engineers from Chicago, Lansing and Detroit. In 2019, Mike has continued to receive recognition from peers as a Phase 2 nominee in four categories of the Detroit Music Awards

High Flyers (Live Music)Aim High School in Farmington Hills, Michigan is a private school for students with social disabilities – autism spectrum disorders, Asperger’s syndrome, anxiety disorders, and attention deficits. Over the last few years, the students have worked to put together a musical group called @the high flyers The High Flyers.
The High Flyers celebrate neurodiversity through music. Some of these students weren’t able to talk until age six or seven, others struggle with crippling anxiety and self-doubt, all struggled to relate to others. Three years on, the group is a talented, vocally strong group with a large repertoire. They have come together through music and, when they perform, they have a lot of fun!
They have been playing a variety of shows at restaurants and coffee shops. Most recently, the band performed for a bill signing on special education with the Lieutenant Governor of Michigan as a special guest on keyboard and vocals. They do a variety of covers.
They have a large draw with students from the school and family members. It’s a great opportunity to support learning and growth and amazing music too.
Join us for an evening of stories of thriving with different learning styles and original music.
